Subscribe to an ad-free YouTube Red now or pay forever more come Tuesday’s launch of YouTube Premium

Google is taking YouTub Red and splitting it into two new services as of next Tuesday May 22nd.

A new YouTube Music streaming service is essentially Google Play Music rebranded and all your playlists and uploaded music will carry over if you’ve been a previous customer. It will be accessible for free (with ads) or a paid Premium version which allows background listening & downloadable music for US$9.99.

YouTube Premium on the other hand is the current YouTube Red service at a higher price, going from US$9.99 to US$11.99. Red, or the soon-to-be “Premium” includes added video content as well as an ad free YouTube experience, which once you’ve had is hell to come back from.

The good news for current YouTube Red subscribers is that you’ll be migrated to the new YouTube Premium product and grandfathered into the old pricing!

So if you’ve ever toyed with the idea of subscribing to YouTube Red but haven’t, now’s the time to do it!
