YouTube and Screen Australia Partnership

Kristen Bowen from YouTube Australia:

From John Luc and his Mychonny channel to Christiaan Van Vuuren’s Bondi Hipsters, Australian content creators are pushing creative boundaries and drawing huge online audiences in Australia and around the world. In fact, the majority of home-grown Aussie content is ‘exported’ – 9 out of 10 views of Australian YouTube content come from overseas.

Still, there’s much to do in encouraging more local creators to share their talents online, and develop new scripted shows and formats.

To help support the next generation of Australian storytellers, YouTube is teaming up with Screen Australia to launch the ‘Skip Ahead’ program, aimed at encouraging more talent to take up the online screen.

Reckoner had its humble beginnings way back in June of 2013.

Founded by James Croft, along with Peter Wells and Anthony Agius they created what would go on to become one of Australia’s most highly regarded and award winning independent tech blogs.

With its uniquely Australian voice Reckoner is committed to offering a “no-holds-barred” approach to its writing. Beholden to no one but its audience. Reckoner’s goal is to remain completely transparent and honour the trust it’s built with its faithful readership.
