Woz is suing YouTube

Old mate and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has taken it upon himself to sue YouTube over their failure to identify and remove bitcoin scams using his name.

Woz isn’t the only one caught up in the scam either. Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin have also had their names and footage used to suck in your average punter.

The scam is a semi-elaborate setup where YouTube accounts and channels are created to look like they’ve been done by the tech-celeb. They come complete with videos stitched together with real footage of the patsy talking about Bitcoin with overlays pushing for you to pass on your deets to the scam wallets.

Woz is saying YouTube aren’t doing their bit to pull the videos & channels down. YouTube aren’t exactly coming to the party though, or not to Woz’s level of satisfaction, stating they’ve removed 2.2 million videos and disabled 1.7 million accounts for “spam, scams, deceptive practices.”
