UK shifts to remove Huawei from 5G network by 2027

The UK government has today announced that they would begin the removal process of all Huawei equipment in the countries’ 5G infrastructure, to be completed by 2027.

The purchase on any Huawei equipment to be used for 5G will be banned as of December 31st this year, with the existing ban on Huawei components not being used in “core” areas of the network remaining in place.

The UK now joins the USA and Australia in a total ban of Huawei equipment in their 5G networks leaving Canada and New Zealand as the only two non “five eyes” countries as hold out.

The move today almost assures Canada will follow suit and New Zealand most likely to fall in line.
