The US, UK & Australian governments want Facebook to stop rolling out e2e encryption

U.S. Attorney General William Barr, acting U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan, U.K. Home Secretary Priti Patel and Australia’s minister for home affairs, Peter Dutton, have co-signed an open letter to Facebook calling on the company to halt its plan to roll out e2e encryption across its suite of messaging products

Woah, hang on here am I about to defend Facebook?????

I don’t understand why these governments need them to leave things wide open if we can break the laws of mathematics like ex-PM Malcolm Turnbull suggested?

What was the line again?

“The laws of mathematics are very commendable, but the only law that applies in Australia is the law of Australia.”

Yeah, so in other words, they want that backdoor in if end-to-end encryption continues to roll out because all their intercepts likely can’t read jack shit.
