Offering six degrees of freedom and Touch controllers, Oculus Quest makes it easy to jump right into the action—with no PC, no wires, and no external sensors.
Coming out Q2 next year the newly announced “Quest” is similar to the Oculus Go without the need for a smartphone to provide the screen for you.
Instead Oculus have put in their own hardware providing each eye with 1600 x 1400 pixels of resolution and 64GB of storage space to store your VR titles on.
The Quest will come bundled with Oculus Touch controllers and will retail for US$399.
In addition to the Quest, Oculus also announced their “inside-out-tracking” technology: Oculus Insight. Insight makes use of four ultra wide-angle sensors to track your position in real time without the need for external sensors. No word on when or if this tech will be coming to the Rift but I’d expect as much soon.
