Self-driving Uber hits & kills a pedestrian

Tempe police are investigating a deadly crash involving a self-driving Uber vehicle overnight.

The Uber vehicle was reportedly headed northbound when a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck.

Uber has stopped operations of all of its self-driving cars, temporarily suspending the program pending further investigation.

A vehicle operator was present in the car, as is the case with all autonomous test vehicles.

It’s unclear how the incident unfolded at this time.
