Samsung launch new “PRO Endurance” microSD range with 16 year life span

Who said microSD cards aren’t sexy? Samsung’s new PRO Endurance range will be sure to have dashcam and security camera owners hot under the collar due to their touted 16 year lifespan of continuous recording.

Samsung claim the new cards last up to 33 times longer than your typical microSD and can perform constant read/writes making it perfect for camera operators and  home automation enthusiasts.

For anyone that’s played around with Home Assistant, you’ll know one of the first things you’re advised to do is ditch your Raspberry Pi’s microSD and use an SSD to ensure the system doesn’t die on you when the card inevitably fails. Perhaps the PRO Endurance would be a good way to remedy this? Time will tell.

Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB & 256GB options the new microSDs only come with a 2, 3 & 5 year warranties, despite supposedly working for 16. This is a little disappointing and immediately casts doubt over Samsung’s specs.

You can grab your new 32GB, 64GB or 128GB Samsung PRO Endurance microSD cards from Amazon Australia today with the 256GB available shortly.
