Don’t expect it anytime soon, but PlayStation have announced they’re working on a new version of their PlayStation VR headset specifically for the PS5.
Details are slim, but the fact the PlayStation Senior VP of Platform Planning & Management, Hideaki Nishino, has confirmed the company is working on a new VR headset is reason enough for celebration.
We’re continuing to innovate with our new VR system so that our fans can continue to enjoy the unique experiences that are synonymous with PlayStation. We’re taking what we’ve learned since launching PSVR on PS4 to develop a next-gen VR system that enhances everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input.
Other details revealed in the blog post include the fact that the new headset will require a single cord, like most VR headsets and that it will include new controllers that will adopt capabilities and technologies used in the new PS5 DualSense controllers.
It was also revealed the new headset would not be available in 2021 and doesn’t commit to any timelines or pricing for its release.
