Nintendo announces New 2DS XL out of nowhere

Out of nowhere, Nintendo has announced another 3DS hardware revision: the New 2DS XL. As the name suggests, this takes features from the New 3DS, like the C-stick, Amiibo-compatible NFC reader, and extra processing power, while removing the display’s 3D functionality.

In a giant “What the?!” Nintendo release a new DS, available in Australia June 15 for A$199.95.

There’s only so long I see this continuing. As the Switch lowers in price it’s going to directly eat into the DS’ portable gaming stranglehold. Nintendo are literally competing against themselves.
