Nexus 5 officially unveiled

Nexus 5 in white

Daniel Tyson at Ausdroid:

Google has today, finally, announced the phone that has refused to stay hidden for the last month or more. The long awaited Nexus 5 is here.

It’s packing a 4.95-inch screen, 8 megapixel camera, and speedy internals (much like the LG G2 it was based on). The pricing is excellent for a flagship outright phone; A$399 for a 16GB model, or $A449 for 32GB. You can also choose between white or black. Delivery to Australia is a flat $19.95.

I have to say, I don’t find it the most attractive phone; the horizontal Nexus logo alongside the vertical LG logo, the black-on-white camera ring, and the white-on-black earpiece speaker grille(!), but I am really interested to see how it performs, particularly with Android Kitkat 4.4.

Daniel has also confirmed the band support for the Nexus 5 lines up with AU telco networks, so we shouldn’t have any dramas using these in Australia.
