New Optus Plans July 1st

Luke Hopewell from Gizmodo AU:

Optus is about to shake up its plan offerings by switching to per-minute charging rather than the dollar amount allowances and making bill shock more difficult to accomplish, but we’re going to have to wear yet another reduction in data allowances to get there.

Their lowest tiers are going away; Optus plans now start at $50. Data allowances are dropping. SMS and MMS are becoming free. They are also now billing in voice minutes instead of billing fake money.

Frankly I think it’s one step forward, two steps backward.
