Sports are a pretty intuitive place for augmented reality: we already watch them with a bevy of numerical overlays, replays, and commentary. So Microsoft’s “future of football,” featuring its HoloLens headset, unsurprisingly makes a lot of sense.
Yes people look dorky wearing VR (or in this case AR) headsets. Move past that and the picture being painted is a pretty amazing one that I hope comes true.
With that said the video does come complete with a bunch of things that are just plain ridiculous, like the 49ers ever being in a Super Bowl again or Marshawn Lynch having the strength to do anything let alone bust through a virtual wall. Fantasy owners know what I’m talking about!
