It’s easy to forget that GPS was a total military invention, designed to aid American troops and defend the homeland from nukes and long range missiles. It’s earliest applications were the first Gulf War where it was used to guide missiles into the homes of Iraqis. It’s still used for that, but now it’s more common to use those satellites for directions to McDonalds than it is to bomb an innocent family. Props to the activists for giving their group a cool name though – “The Harriet Tubman-Sarah Connor Brigade“
