…IKEA has taken the strategic decision to invest even more in the home smart area by establishing IKEA Home smart as its own business unit within IKEA of Sweden.
Up until now IKEA have continued to dabble in the smart home landscape without truly committing to the venture. Now it appears they’ve decided to just dive straight into the deep end, constructing their first major business unit since IKEA Children launched over a decade ago.
Their recent partnership with Sonos as well as the development of their own smart lighting, blinds and charging solutions show how the product family has grown and it’s heartening to see their commitment continue.
The new venture will hopefully lead to the further globalisation of their smart products at a more rapid rate. Australians at present can only look on in wonder at the raft of new products launched in the US & EU with only their lighting and some charging products available locally.
