Here are Apple’s best apps of 2023

Apple has unveiled the winners of the 2023 App Store Awards, recognizing 14 apps and games that have provided users with meaningful experiences and inspired cultural change. The winners were chosen by Apple’s App Store Editorial team for their exceptional technical innovation, user experience, and design.

Among the winners are AllTrails, which provides comprehensive trail guides and outdoor exploration for users; Prêt-à-Makeup, a makeup sketchpad on iPad that fosters inclusivity and self-expression; and Photomator, a photo editing app with machine learning-powered tools. The gaming category winners include Honkai: Star Rail, Lost in Play, Lies of P, and Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

In addition to the app and game winners, Apple also recognized five Cultural Impact winners. These apps and games encourage users to learn and grow in inclusive spaces, contribute to a more sustainable future, and explore self-reflection and connection. The Cultural Impact winners include Pok Pok, a digital toy room for kids; Proloquo, an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool; Too Good To Go, which helps minimize food waste; Unpacking, a meditative puzzle game; and Finding Hannah, a colorful coming-of-age game.

The Trend of the Year for 2023 is generative AI, with apps integrating AI in various ways. While many AI features are still in their early stages, they give users a chance to see the technology in action and evaluate its benefits and risks.

The App Store, which launched in 2008, is currently home to 1.8 million apps and is visited by over 650 million average weekly visitors across 175 countries and regions. The App Store supports global economic growth and has facilitated $1.1 trillion in developer billings and sales in 2022.

Apple continues to revolutionize personal technology with its innovative products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. The company’s software platforms, such as iOS and macOS, provide seamless experiences across devices and offer services like the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay, and iCloud. Apple’s mission is to make the best products on earth and leave the world better than it was found.
