Following up from yesterday’s news, here’s a video of the CarPlay interface in action. Also a couple of extra features that weren’t in the original press release:
- It does rely on a wired Lightning-cable connection, not wireless
- The hardware of the screen is not provided by Apple, only the software (shades of the Motorola ROKR, perhaps?)
- The full list of other apps you can use is as follows: Podcasts, Beats Radio, iHeartRadio, Spotify & Stitcher
- CarPlay models in 2014 include: Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo
- Other ‘committed partners’ with CarPlay plans in mind for future models include: BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Pegueot, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota
Apple have also updated their site with a very nice looking section on CarPlay.
