Cloudflare launch new free DNS service focused on privacy first

Cloudflare’s mission is to help build a better Internet. We’re excited today to take another step toward that mission with the launch of 1.1.1.1 — the Internet’s fastest, privacy-first consumer DNS service.

Possibly the worst day to announce a product, despite including rationale as to why it’s being launched April 1st.

Regardless, Cloudflare’s new 1.1.1.1 DNS seems the real deal having negotiated the use of the primary IP with its holder and pushing a privacy first model that they claim just happens to be the fastest DNS service available too.

Many will be aware of Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) however there is a level of concern to their usage and the details being obtained in doing so by the company, whom makes a living of user data.

Cloudflare’s policy on data collection appears to be next to none stating:

We committed to never writing the querying IP addresses to disk and wiping all logs within 24 hours.
