Booby-trapped USB drives coming to a letterbox near you

Would-be cyber criminals have been targeting Victorians by dropping malware loaded USB-drives into their letter boxes, in the hope unsuspecting residents will stick the devices into their home computers.

It said recipients who inserted the USBs into the computers were served “fraudulent media streaming service offers, as well as other serious issues”.

The malware on the devices has been described as “extremely harmful”.

Credit to the “crims” for initiative here, albeit a relatively costly one. Those who’ve fallen foul it could’ve be a hell of a lot worse if the USBs were cryptolockers or alike. Malware, annoying and shit as it is can (generally) be removed.

Hand delivered malware USB… it’s the Bonsai Buddy of 2016!
