Aussie PS5 pricing, pre-orders & dates, plus new game announcements from Sony

Sony held its long awaited PS5 Showcase event early this morning revealing the PS5’s highly anticipated price point and release date along with details of how you can pre-order the console’s expected limited supply.

A$749.95. That’s the number everyone wants to know Exactly the same Microsoft’s Xbox Series X with Amazon already running a pre-order deal at A$749 with $30 cashback for Prime members!

Sony’s “digital only” version of the PS5 is significantly cheaper at just A$599.95, but does mean that all games played will need to be purchased online through Sony’s PlayStation store, which generally charges full RRP all the time.

The digital only PS5 includes the same guts and components as the main PS5 unlike Microsoft’s Xbox Series S, which at $100 cheaper doesn’t bring the full 4K power and memory of its bigger brother.

The PS5 will also be released in Australia in the first wave on November 12th. Other countries included in the first release date include the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand & South Korea. The rest of the world will have to wait another full week when units are expected to ship on Nov 19th.

Pre-orders for both editions of the PS5 are available now through JB HiFi, EB Games and Amazon. Order quickly though if you want in come November, rumours of production shortages and delays are running rife!

In addition to pricing and availability of the PS5, Sony showed off a raft of new trailers and game details with the announcement of Final Fantasy XVI and a teaser for the upcoming God of War Ragnarok.
