Apple announce new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

It’s faster and more powerful than before, yet remarkably thinner and lighter. It has the brightest, most colourful Mac notebook display ever. And it introduces the Touch Bar — a Multi-Touch–enabled strip of glass built into the keyboard for instant access to the tools you want, when you want them. The new MacBook Pro is built on groundbreaking ideas. And it’s ready for yours.

Ready that is if you can afford the whopping price tag. The base 15″ MacBook Pro (with the new Touch Bar) starts at A$3,599. Ouch!

Sure you can buy the nerfed version with actual function keys and lame-ass Thunderbolt 2 ports instead of the new USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 for A$2,999 but who’s going to do that right?

What else… the top model has Touch ID in the bar for logging into your Mac & buying stuff via Apple Pay – that’s pretty cool. It’s actually a physical button at the end of the Touch Bar too instead of being integrated into it.

The touch pad has gotten massive while the keyboard has shrunk – now using the same type as the MacBook.

Other than that you get a nice processor bump, Intel’s new Core i7, the screen is 67% brighter, a new GPU and the whole thing is thinner & lighter.

Biggest disappointment. RAM seems to be soldered in and there’s no option to add more. That means 16GB for everyone regardless of how much disposable income you have. Odd.

Looks great, sounds amazing. About $1k too expensive.
