Filed under things I never thought I’d see, AGL have today announced a new service that allows consumer to subscribe to an Electric Vehicle (EV) service, which includes a car, its maintenance, registration, insurance and charger installation for a weekly fee.
Initially the EV Subscription service will be limited to those living within a 50km radius of Melbourne and Sydney CBDs and requires a once-off $800 setup fee to get the ball rolling.
Upon approval the AGL team will then install an EV charger at your home and deliver the car of your choice within 30 days.
AGL plan on having four cars available at launch ranging from $299/wk to $599/wk depending on your taste and needs. Each vehicle is either brand new (Tesla) or near-as with plans to add more to the roster in the future. Currently you can choose from:
- Nissan Leaf (40kWH/270km range) – $299/wk
- Hyundai Ioniq (38kWH/311km range) – $299/wk
- Hyundai Kona (64kWH/449km range) – $359/wk
- Tesla Model 3 (50kWH/460km range) – $599/wk
Your subscription can be discontinued at any time and there are no lock-in contracts. AGL will even let you change the car your have or up/down-grade your subscription with 30 days notice.
You can register your interest in the new EV Subscription service on AGL’s website, but there’s just one catch. You need to be an existing AGL customer to apply!
