I spent about 30 min going through eBay’s recently completed sales and compiled an average of the last 30 sales made on eBay Australia for all the iPhone 4/4S/5 models. You can check out the spreadsheet here, but I’ve posted a summary of the pricing, minus eBay’s fees (9.9% of the final sale price and if someone pays via PayPal with a credit card, 2.4% + 30c) and rounded up to a whole number:
- iPhone 4 – 8GB: $240
- iPhone 4 – 16GB: $260
- iPhone 4 – 32GB: $300
- iPhone 4S – 16GB: $325
- iPhone 4S – 32GB: $355
- iPhone 4S – 64GB: $400
- iPhone 5 – 16GB: $500
- iPhone 5 – 32GB: $570
- iPhone 5 – 64GB: $630
If you plan on selling your iPhone to a friend, or on Gumtree/forum/person at work, the prices I’ve listed above are what I would consider “market value” based on eBay’s completed sales. You might subtract or add a tiny bit (not much) if the iPhone is in mint condition, or a little worse for wear, or is missing the box & charger, etc.
But if someone is trying to sell you an 8GB iPhone 4 for $300 or more..
