LG has partnered with Nvidia to bring support for G-Sync to five 2019 TVs, the companies announced Tuesday.

LG’s C9 & E9 OLED TVs will soon receive a software update that will enable G-Sync. The update is limited to only two ranges as they’re the only ones with the smarts to control and display a variable refresh rate.

The update will also mark the first time G-Sync has been enabled over a HDMI connection, which normally requires DisplayPort to function.

Nvidia will release a new “Game-ready” driver update to better support the TVs, however to send the adaptive signal over HDMI will require a new RTX or GTX-16 GPU.
