"Good-Game"

What a sad day.

Australia’s longest running video games television show is no more. The ABC released a statement revealing that two of the show’s presenters Stephanie “Hex” Bendixsen and Nich “Nichboy” Richardson would be leaving to pursue “other opportunities”. As a result both the Good Game main show and Good Game: Pocket would be cancelled leaving the remaining Good Game: Spawn Point to live on albeit under a new format.

Late last year I had the absolute pleasure to spend a day with the Good Game: Pocket team. Shadowing them for a day I witnessed first hand their gruelling production cycle to push out two daily shows for an online audience that the ABC has clearly misunderstood in removing the show.

To my good friend Peter Burns, the ever loveable John Emerson and of course the charismatically sadistic Nick Richardson thank you. Thank you for all your hard work, thank you for inviting me into your work place and thank you for the hours of entertainment you’ve provided the thousands and thousands of viewers and supporters out there.

To the rest of the Good Game team I wish you all the best of luck. Whilst it’s sad to see the big show go I’ve been lucky enough to see how resourceful, talented and special your unit is. I have no doubt the new Spawn Point will continue to reach new heights and I look forward to see what else may emerge from a group of very special people.
