Today, Instagram announced that it is testing a feature that will make it easier for brands to direct shoppers to products they see and like in an Instagram photo. These “shoppable” photos will have a shopping tag next to items to identify the product as available for purchase. Once clicked, the tag redirects to a product page for more item details as well as links to the actual store website where it can be purchased.

It sounds like someone at Instagram likes Houzz, which has been doing this for the past few years. Or maybe they used Fancy, which is essentially nothing but these types of posts.

Considering Instagram is rapidly turning into an “influencer” stream and it’s owned by Facebook this makes perfect sense. I wonder how long it will be before I stop opening that app too?
