Yahoo last year secretly built a custom software program to search all of its customers’ incoming emails for specific information provided by United States intelligence officials, people familiar with the matter have told\u00a0Reuters.<\/em><\/p>\n
The internet company complied with a classified US government directive, scanning hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail accounts at the behest of the National Security Agency or FBI, said two former employees and a third person apprised of the events.<\/p>\n
Chief executive Marissa Meyer agreed to the directive, and bypassed Yahoo’s security team in the progress.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Meyer and her team have a lot to answer for. From email hacking to email\u00a0reading, this new Yahoo is going down in flames.<\/p>\n
