Danny Yadron for the WSJ:

People familiar with the matter said last week that Apple will include a fingerprint scanner on the more expensive of two iPhones it is expected to unveil Tuesday at an event at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters.

When the WSJ uses the phrase ‘people familiar with the matter’, that’s code for ‘Apple, tempering people’s expectations.’

While we’re on the subject, let’s do a bit of a final round up on the Apple news in preparation for tomorrow. Firstly, charge that laptop & get that couch doona ready now; you know you’re getting kicked out of bed so you don’t wake up significant others at some stupid hour. We’ve all had that talk.

The event starts at 3AM on Wednesday morning, 11/09/13.

We don’t yet know if Apple will be doing a livestream of the event. Historically, we’d expect one, but there are no links yet… hopefully they’ll turn up tonight on the AppleTV or on Apple.com.

Even if there’s a stream, I usually have a couple of liveblogs open too on the laptop next to me. This year, I’ll be looking at Ars Technica and The Verge for live coverage.

If you’d like a round-up of rumours & predictions before the event starts, the best ones I’ve seen have been at 9to5 Mac, iMore, Ars Technica & also The Verge. Generally, they all agree on these basic ideas:
