Vlad Savov for The Verge:

Yes, it’s a smartphone accessory that can pick up notifications, control music playback, and keep time with a rich variety of watch faces, but Samsung takes it a few steps further by integrating a 1.9-megapixel camera, a speaker, and two microphones — allowing you to shoot short 720p movies and even conduct phone calls with the Galaxy Gear.

A couple of things:

- Thankfully it’s not the 3-inch watch face we saw leaked earlier this week, but it still looks like a very bulky device to wear on your wrist.

- It packs a 315mAh battery which will only be good for around 1 day of battery. That’s just not good enough for a watch.

- It has 70 apps, which is a surprisingly decent selection for a launch device. I chuckled when I saw Evernote in that list.
