Yahoo went through all your email on behalf of the US government

Yahoo

Yahoo last year secretly built a custom software program to search all of its customers’ incoming emails for specific information provided by United States intelligence officials, people familiar with the matter have told Reuters.

The internet company complied with a classified US government directive, scanning hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail accounts at the behest of the National Security Agency or FBI, said two former employees and a third person apprised of the events.

Chief executive Marissa Meyer agreed to the directive, and bypassed Yahoo’s security team in the progress.

Holy crap Yahoo!! You’re just going from bad to worse.

Meyer and her team have a lot to answer for. From email hacking to email reading, this new Yahoo is going down in flames.
