Google buys Fitbit for US$2.1b

Today, we’re announcing that Google has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fitbit, a leading wearables brand.

Nice play to catch up on Apple’s wearable lead.

It’s also a little scary too. They say they wont use any of the health data for ads, but will that stop them? Or is there something else the data could be used for? US Insurers must be salivating over access to it.
