3rd time’s a charm — Apple tries again with a new butterfly keyboard in speed-bumped MacBook Pros

The ultimate pro notebook, MacBook Pro features faster processors, upgraded memory, the Apple T2 chip and a Retina display with True Tone technology.

For some reason Apple are sticking to their butterfly guns and refusing to give the people what they want; anything but a butterfly keyboard.

Instead here’s the third generation of what Apple are now admitting is a lesson in what not to do in industrial design. Along with a series of spec bumps in the TouchBar equipped MacBook Pros today Apple has extended its keyboard replacement program to essentially any butterfly MBP going right back to 2015’s now defunct 12″ model.

The 3rd generation promises to readdress any issues users have experienced by replacing a physical material that exists within the mechanism itself in addition to the added membrane of generation deux.

The new MacBook Pros now come equipped with Intel’s 9th generation CPUs with options available ranging from a six-core i7 up to a lofty eight-core i9 tapping out at 4.8GHz with TurboBoost.

Pricing hasn’t changed for the new lineup, which is a rarity for Australia but don’t expect to save a few bucks by getting the non TouchBar equipped 13″ MBP. Apple have decided they’ll leave that one be, now a generation behind.
